Established with IPARD support, the facility combines modern production, renewable energy and employment, contributing significantly to rural development in Van.
As part of the IPARD Managing Authority’s working visit to Van Province on 21 July 2026, the Mushroom Production Facility established with support from the IPARD Programme was visited, and information was obtained on the production activities carried out at the facility.
An Investment Realised with Grant Support
Located in Atmaca Neighborhood, Van City Centre, the facility was established with a 55% grant and VAT exemption provided under the IPARD Programme. It has become one of the region’s leading agricultural investments, contributing significantly to local production and rural development.
Modern Production Infrastructure
The facility features a modern production infrastructure with 21 production rooms and approximately 5,000 square metres of production space designed in line with EU standards. To preserve the quality and freshness of the products after harvest, the facility is also equipped with a 70-square-metre cold storage unit.
Investment, Employment and Renewable Energy
The mushroom production facility and rooftop solar energy system represent a total investment of TRY 5.81 million, of which TRY 3.19 million was financed through grants under the IPARD Programme. Currently employing 53 people, the facility makes a significant contribution to rural development and employment in Van. In line with a sustainable production approach, the rooftop solar energy investment is expected to meet the facility’s electricity needs through renewable energy.
Production Capacity and Marketing Network
The facility produces approximately 3 tonnes of cultivated mushrooms per day. The products are supplied to the branches of two national supermarket chains operating in 26 provinces across Türkiye, reaching consumers nationwide.
In addition to its commercial success, the facility has attracted the attention of the academic community through its modern production model. Throughout the year, academics and students from various universities conduct technical study visits to the facility.
Strong Support for Rural Development
During the visit, it was emphasised that support provided through the IPARD Programme will continue to strengthen the rural economy, increase employment opportunities and promote the wider adoption of modern agricultural production infrastructure across rural areas.
