The General Director of Agricultural Reform of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Head of the IPARD Managing Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Insurance Pool, Dr. Osman YILDIZ, visited Rize on 19 September, and provided extensive information on the IPARD III Programme, rural development and grants, processes and objectives in agricultural production planning, agricultural support programme, leasing of non-cultivated agricultural lands, contracted production, and dissemination of agricultural insurance, and called on the producers to be mindful of State Supported Agricultural Insurance and to protect their products, and informed the participants in detail about the current and future activities of our Ministry in the agricultural sector.
Rize Governor Mr. İhsan Selim BAYDAŞ stated in his remarks during the publicity meeting that the most important focus of Rize is tea and its derivative activities and said, “Tea is a strategic product both for us and for our country. Therefore, in terms of agricultural production strategy, we should not feel the need to create an alternative to tea, which we cannot give up or substitute with anything. In this context, it is the common demand of Artvin, Rize and Trabzon to consider tea as the product for the supports provided by our Ministry within the scope of the IPARD Programme.”
Within the scope of his visit to Rize on 19 September 2024, our General Director and Head of IPARD Managing Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Insurance Pool, Dr. Osman YILDIZ first met with the Directors of Rize, Artvin, Trabzon, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Bayburt and Erzurum Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry and TARSİM Giresun Regional Directorate officials and attended the “Agricultural Production Planning Meeting”. Dr. Osman YILDIZ informed the Provincial Directors of Agriculture and Forestry, officials from Rize ARDSI Office and TARSİM, as well as the representatives of stakeholder institutions, producers and breeders, chairmen of chambers of agriculture and associations about planned production in agriculture. Moreover, Dr. Osman YILDIZ emphasized that the farmers should be mindful of the State Supported Agricultural Insurance and protect their efforts in the face of natural disasters and various risks that occur through the impact of increasing climate change, and answered questions from the participants.
